1981 – Stafford Springs. The X3 was normally driven by Jim Hendrickson, who was much taller than Ed. The car’s seat was in a fixed position to suit Jim. Ed was able to get his feet to the pedals by placing his own seat inside of Jim’s, thus shortening the distance from the driver to the pedals.

This photo appears to have been taken shortly after August 18th, 1968, when the rear of the 2x was burned while being refueled during the Trenton 200. Please note that Ed is smoking a cigarette.

This #7 Pinto was a Bob Judkins car normally driven by Ron Bouchard. In this photo Ed is driving it, although I don’t know if Ed ever raced it, or rather he just tested it, as his competitors would often ask him to do for them.
