This car was owned by Benny Washburn. Denny Zimmerman informs us that Ed drove the 15 (sometimes numbered 15x) several times in 1960. On another website this photo was captioned ‘Victoria Speedway”, a dirt track in Dunnsville, NY. My guess is that it was not taken at Victoria, but why someone would put that caption on it without being reasonably sure of the facts is unclear.

Jimmy Mairs

Jimmy Mairs was one of the top drivers in the South when the Eastern Bandits began to race down there in 1961. He had won 8 races in a row at Old Dominion Speedway (Manassas) in 1960. Ed broke that record when he won 9 in a row at OD in 1962.
