Ron Bouchard was famous for driving Modifieds in the outside groove, almost never dropping down to the bottom of the track. The Modified world was joyfully amazed when he won the Talladega 500 in 1981 on the last turn of the last lap, and he did it by dropping to the bottom of the track.
