At the start of the 1970 season, NASCAR decreed that henceforth for Modified races at southern tracks, all the cars had to have late-model bodies. Although this badly conceived rule did not last long, it applied to that year’s Dogwood 500 at Martinsville on April 12. In that race, Ed drove the Bob Garbarino Mustang, normally #4 but for this race numbered #84. I am aware of no good quality images of that car, but these few screenshots are at least a record of Ed’s participation. He qualified 8th, ran as high as 4th, and finished 10th. In this image he is in the white Mustang on the left.
