Richie Garuti
Moe Gherzi was the first driver of the Garuti brothers’ #14. In 1956 Richie Garuti brought Ed into the team as a second driver, in their new #28. A year later Moe left the team, leaving Ed to be their only driver, which he continued to be until the end of 1958 when he left to drive his own car. Ed also drove for the Garutis occasionally in 1964 and 1969 and regularly in 1970.

Although this photo is captioned “1952”, it must have been taken no earlier than 1955, as that was when Ed first drove for the Garutis, and when Richie Garuti (to the immediate left of Ed in the photo) first built a #28, which according to Richie was “twice the car” of his older brother Ray’s #14.
Denny Zimmerman
Denny was one of Ed’s closest friends. Denny and Ed were the two original, famous “Eastern Bandits” racers, which later included Rene Charland and Red Foote. Photo from approximately 1964.
People
Standing, L-R, are Riverside starter Al Parent, Pete Dalena whose Dalena Auto Parts was a sponsor of Ed’s car, promoter Harvey Tattersall Jr, Ed’s first wife Christine, and Ed.
At the front are George Flemke and Ed’s brother-in-law Joe Dombrowski.
The man at the back in the cap is Richard “Ziggy” Ziegler, and the man next to him is John Perue (the spelling may be wrong) who worked at the Arute construction firm.
