$
This article describes the $ coupe built and owned by Bill Boudrieau and Donald Ponticelli in 1959 and driven by Ed’s formmer teammate Moe Gherzi. In 1960 Ponticelli and John Stygar teamed up to build a new coupe, which they also called the “$”, and which Ed made famous.
34 – Studebaker
This image was taken from moments before the 37-car crash. Ed’s Studebaker is on the inside row on the far right in 13th starting position. Please note how closely he is following the car in front, which would have had a big, although at the time not understood, effect on the aerodynamics of his car.
34 – Studebaker
Ed’s Studebaker is easily recognized in 13th starting position.
