1976-04-10 – Stafford Springs – ‘The Race’. In the first of this series of shots, we can see how Ed’s car has been hit in the left rear quarter by the red #1 Pinto driven by Geoff Bodine. The full series shows how the contact spun Ed’s car into the infield, but with great skill he was able to maintain control after its 360° rotation and keep moving forward.

1976-05-05. This car was the original 2x Pinto, then sold to Frank Vigliarolo when it became the blue #34, then sold to Kip and Dick Benson when it was painted red again as the #2. These photos were taken by Phil Hoyt after Ed won the Plainville open-comp 100 on May 5, 1976.

The caption is all wrong – this is the second 2x Pinto and the photo is from about 1976. We cannot be sure, but that looks like Ed driving.
