Ed’s Mills and Welch #79 is just behind Jerry Cook’s #38. This photo was taken at Malta, where Ed often drove the #79 in 1969, but only rarely in 1970, when he usually drove the Evans #61 at Malta.

This is Ken Canestrari in his own car. Mike Abdella, who was on Ken’s crew, has reported that at Malta in about 1970 Ken asked Ed to drive the car and help him to improve its handling. When Ed drove the car he was amazed at how badly it handled, but he was able to help Ken set it up correctly.

Here Ed is standing next to the Gene Dewitt-owned #7, normally driven so successfully by Dutch Hoag. This may have been late in the 1970 season when Dutch was unwell and had other drivers substitute for him at certain races. I don’t know whether Ed actually drove this car, but who could have been a better substitute than he?
