1969 – This is Art Barry’s “Stumpjumper”, usually numbered as 909. Bob Santos and Jerry Dostie were the regular drivers of the 909. Ed drove Art’s next coupe, the 09, successfully in many races in 1971.

1969 – Thompson. This would have been one of the last times that Ed drove the 2x coupe.

1969-10-26 – Thompson 500. Ed led for about 325 laps and had a 1/3 lap lead with about 50 to go when his engine dropped a valve and he DNF’d. In this image his car is going down the backstretch.

On November 8-9, 1969, Ed drove Johnny Bryant’s coupe at the Martinsville Cardinal 500 after his regular car, the Mills-Welch #79, developed engine problems. He finished 8th in the 50-lap qualifying race and tangled with Don Diffendorf on lap 341 of the feature.
