Following his considerable success in the ¢ cars, which he had built and co-owned, midway through 1966 Ed built and owned the successor car, which he ran as the %. He raced it for only the second half of ’66 and on rare occasions in 1967, however, as starting in early ’67 he began to drive the 2x coupe on a full-time basis.

In 1966 Denny was mostly driving sprint cars, but when he had the time he drove Modifieds as well. Here he is in Booker T. Jones’s beautifully prepared car. Through the windscreen we can see Ed’s % in the background.

The “RCS Special” referred to sponsorship from the RCS Amoco station of Rocky Germani, Ed’s co-owner of his preceding car the ¢. The service station was located on West Main St, New Britain.
